So Charlotte and I with the help of some friends held our very first Club event last weekend. It went far better than I could have ever hoped, Charlotte of course knew that it was going to be a success. We had a great turn out with more than 12 children raging from 5 to 17 Years old. As you can see one of the Moms that came along to help had her 21 month old son with her and towards the end he was feeling creative.
Between the two of us Charlotte and I have skills that we decided meshed together could make for a great business opportunity. I love to play with glitter, glue and make a mess with all sorts of materials and colours. Charlotte likes to plan and organise events, she did this for years in L.A and was top her class at her job. I have no event planning skills what so ever and Charlotte has little in the way of crafting skills (this I disagree with because I think everyone has the ability to craft), her words not mine. She actually starts to break out in a sweat and hyper ventilate if you come near her with a Glue stick and glitter.
So this past Saturday we supplied the kids with blank cards, glitter glue, markers, crayons, pens, rubber stmaps, ink pads and so much more and let them be creative with the cards they want to make. I think everyone enjoyed the day, kids and parents alike. We handed out cards to the parents to get some feedback on the event and how it went and one of the Moms had a valid point, that teaching a new skill to the kids would be a great idea. Now I had thought about this but didn't want the children to feel it was a class room or that I was telling them what to do. But I do think I like the idea so our next event is for Valentines cards and I will actually walk the kids through a card. I say kids but of course all are more than welcome.
This is the ramblings of an exhausted crafter, so off I must go to a place where roads are pathed with glitter and every day is a rainbow of embelishments.
