So we decided that we were going to have a Craft n Create Valentines event, only this time i would talk the kids through a project rather than let them have it with the cards. We priced it at a basic $10 session, supplying all the materials needed all you have to bring is your imagination.
We have had feedback from various parents that they feel that $10 is just to much for a craft session for the kids. Charlotte and I have worked on the costing and we actually make nothing on the event, the only way for us to make money would be if we managed to book two 12 people sessions and then we might make a small profit. Now as horrible as it sounds if we were doing the event outside of our own complex then indeed we would be charging more and aiming for profit but these are our community family so we are not trying to make money it. It certainly has given us something to think about.
The times are hard and we all know this and paying out for luxuries can indeed be expensive but for me personally $10 for my child once a month to 6 weeks is a small price to pay for any child to be creative. It's one of those rock and hard place things.
Later on I will be blogging about the antics of Charlotte in her first craft lesson.. Honestly I am thinking working with animals and children may be easier.. Blood sweat and tears to make a Valentines card I kid you not.
